Off-Season is Build Season
Right now across the country, pitchers are working in silence. They are long tossing, adding weight room strength, refining mechanics, and yes, building velo.
When spring comes, the radar guns will climb. Fastballs will jump. Breaking balls will bite.
That is why this window matters.
This is the time to get your reps up, increase reaction time, and train bat-to-ball skills at game speed. When those harder throwing arms show up in March, it is our job as hitters to be ready and put a stop to it.
Speed wins. Consistency wins. Reps win.
Off-Season Focus: Volume, Velocity, Game Speed
Over the next few months your hitting should progress like this:
- Build volume, lots of clean, consistent reps
- Add stimulus, smaller balls, mixed timing, higher pitch speed
- Train decision speed, recognition and fast execution
With MaxBP, you can scale reps to match your off-season goals. Start slow early. Increase speed a little each week. By the time spring arrives, your eyes are trained, your barrel is quick, and the winter rust is gone.
🥇 Drill of the Week: Bottom-Hand Accuracy Challenge
Simple, elite for hand precision.
Setup
- Place your MaxBP about 25 ft away
- Set to High speed
- Step in the box normally
- Use only the knob of the bat to strike balls
Yes, the knob.
This drill forces you to track the ball deep, stay short to contact, and sharpen your bottom-hand accuracy. It is a drill used by pros. We have even seen Juan Soto working a similar version of this drill. It is excellent for developing control and feel through the zone.
Try 3 rounds of 25 to 40 reps.
If the knob can make contact, the barrel definitely will later.
Let’s Build Together
A new year is not about resolutions. It is about setting a trajectory.
You put in the reps now and they pay off when the lights turn on in spring.
